Paper: Shape & Size

by Amy on April 2, 2008

Sometimes, all it takes to make a familiar activity seem new is a small change in materials. Lately, I have been trying to provide the girls with varying sizes/shapes of paper for their drawing + painting projects.

Large murals made from 2 pieces of easel roll paper — this one was a backdrop for a Cinderella “show:”

Tiny books made for a favorite doll:

Egg-shaped paper on the easel at preschool:

Other ideas for fun paper size + shape: register tape from the office supply store, blank labels, thin cardboard (like from a cereal box) cut into a shape or the first letter of their names, paint color chips, postcards, index cards or bookmarks.

Happy playing!
