Natalie turned six on Friday – Happy Birthday sweet girl! I went to her Kindergarten classroom bearing treats (chocolate chip bar cookies) and stayed to visit with all her lovely classmates for a while.
Friday evening she had her friends and cousins over for a pajama party! We made some simple favor bags, and filled them with toothbrushes, hot cocoa, glow sticks, and star stickers.
Natalie chose these cupcakes, with little sleepy girls on top from the book Hello, Cupcake! The facial features did not come out the way I was hoping, but the girls loved them! Marshmallow bodies and pillows, mini Nilla wafer heads, Teddy Graham teddy bears. I never would have thought to microwave and roll Starburst to make little blankets!
We covered the living room floor with blankets, quilts, and pillows. The girls made polka-dot pillowcases with fabric paint and round foam stencil brushes. While waiting for a turn to paint, the girls kept busy with star beads and pipe cleaners, drawing on black construction paper with white, metallic, and construction paper crayons, and playing with our ShapeScapes.
Natalie wanted to play Pass the Teddy Bear – everyone sat in a circle and passed the teddy bear to music. Whoever was holding the bear when the music stopped chose a prize — we did little packs of gummy bears. We also had all the girls bring a stuffed animal or doll, which we hid so they could hunt for them by flashlight.
We ended our party with milk and stories. Natalie loved being in her jammies for a party!
I guess now I can switch gears to Halloween, Thanksgiving, & Christmas…
Happy playing!
This is absolutely adorable! It makes me sad that I have to wait until spring to do something similar!
I love the pillow case idea and the simple favor bags!
Oh such nostalgia! I miss slumber parties. How fun!
Happy Birthday Natalie!
I adore those cupcakes! Were they hard to make?
I have to share with you the birthday cake I made for my recently turned 5 year old…I used starburst candies on it too!
