Yoga for Kids

by Amy on August 28, 2009

Don’t you love it when you buy something because it looks really cute and fun, and it turns out to be even better than you expected?  That’s exactly how our whole family feels about the Yoga Pretzels activity cards.  My girls LOVE them!  We’ve had the cards for about a year, and the girls still find them interesting and fun.

The set comes with 50 sturdy, laminated cards divided by color into nine categories:  Breathe, Games, Balance, Stand, Forward Bend, Back Bend, Twist & Stretch, Partner, and Time In.  Here’s a little peek at what the cards look like:

Natalie has great balance and loves doing many of the standing and balancing poses.

And, here’s Delaney doing the Mountain Pose:

They have especially been enjoying the partner cards lately – lots of giggles trying to get their bodies to cooperate!

Natalie and I have been going through the various breathing exercises, talking about which ones might help her relax and calm down.  She is my anxious girl, so I find the yoga especially benefical for her.  Of course, these cards are great for grown-ups new to yoga, too – like me!

Happy playing and moving!

I found yoga for kids on my ON DEMAND about a month ago. My son loves it & we often do it as a family. Those cards look great!

Thanks for the review – I use another kind of yoga cards teaching kids yoga and there are so many games to play with yoga cards. My favorite is an intuition game – take a relaxed breath and cut the deck. The card that comes up is the one for you. Kids like the adventure of it.
