More Spinny Speller Fun

by Amy on September 5, 2009

Delaney is still quite enamored with the Spinny Speller – I think she is still amazed that she can sound-out words!  (Read my first post about Spinny Spellers here.)

She wanted to write down all the words she was sounding out, so I made her this simple recording sheet.  I put it inside a sheet protector so we can use it over and over again.

Great idea! We love the one we have, so I printed off some sheets to put in one of Molly’s workboxes tomorrow. Thanks!

In teaching students to focus on the sounds, rather than the letter or combination of letters as they get more advanced in spelling and phonics, I use this skills and within each “space” they write the sound…for example, if the word is space, the child would write “s…p…ae…s”….They are taught to understand the sounds and then the spelling rules at a later time.
