Whoooo Wants a Snack?

by Amy on October 27, 2009

Natalie found this cute recipe in her recent Your Big Backyard magazine and got right to work making it for a snack.

Natalie adapted the recipe a bit – she used chocolate chips for the eye centers and the brow line.  Also, an apple slice was used for the beak instead of the cheese – Natalie was really grossed out by the thought of the cheese with the peanut butter!  It was a fun and simple snack that was easy to assemble.  Yum!

On a side note:  After updating our security certificate a few weeks ago, some people have been having trouble accessing the Let’s Explore Shop.  Even though the site IS secure, it might show up un-formatted, with a bunch of text links down the left-hand side.  Not good!  If this has happened to you, I would really appreciate it if you would drop me a quick e-mail and let me know  (amy@lets-explore.net).  We’re trying to get it resolved as quickly as possible!  Thanks for your continued support of Let’s Explore!

Amy, I checked your site…it looks fine to me!

Adorable owl and something most kids will actually eat!

We enjoy Your Big Backyard at our house, too. I hadn’t gone through the October issue, but seeing this prompted me to. My son’s preschool class will be talking about owls tomorrow, and now I see the issue also includes an owl poster, instructions for drawing an owl and making an owl mask, and a feature on owls and other nocturnal animals. Thanks for making me see this in time.

What a fun looking snack. I really enjoy making simple, creative, delightful snacks similar to this for my children.

We made this snack this morning, except we used raisins for the eyebrows and the middle of the eyes. Kids ate it all and loved it!
