Remember all those painting tools we played with yesterday? Now we have turkeys! The girls basically did these themselves – I did cut out paper turkey bodies and felt beaks and waddles at their request. Here’s their instructions, more or less….
First step – cut up all your artwork into small pieces and throw them all over the floor. This will be called the paper market. Using a feather tracer-stencil-thing, trace and cut-out all your pretty feathers.
Next step – Arrange your feathers till they look their best and start gluing them behind your turkey body. We glued down just the bottom of our turkey body until all the feathers were done, then glued it down the rest of way.
Last step – add eyes, beak, waddle, and feet and you’re done!
Gobble, gobble!
(A note from mom – You could use any paintings you have laying around, magazines, wrapping paper, etc. Have fun!)
Those turkeys are so very cute! Thanks for sharing all these ideas! I’ve nominated you on my blog for this “Best blog award” that has been going around, do pop by to check it out if you have the time! Cheers!
Wow, these look really beautiful!
I love it – great recycling, so creative, and so cute!
those turkeys (and your kids) are just too adorable!
Another idea: Before gluing the feather’s down, you could trace an outline of the turkey on your background and then set the turkey aside. As long as the bottom edge of each feather is within that outline, the turkey’s body will cover them all. Thanks for the great way to use up the endless scraps of paper!!
Thanks for this great idea! We made these this week and my son loved it :)
Very cute!
I’m writing because I run a sensory site and am looking for great ideas for Thanksgiving. And as any parent, we’re looking for terrific Thanksgiving crafts and ideas for kids with Sensory Processing Disorder and on the Autism Spectrum. Would you add a link to a craft idea or two on our blog? Here’s the link to share and get more traffic to your site…
