Ladybug Valentines

by Amy on February 5, 2010

These are the Valentine cards that Natalie made for her Kindergarten class last year.  She came up with the idea herself – pretty cute!

For the card background, she painted big pieces of paper with red, pink, and purple paint.  When they were dry, we cut them up into card-size rectangles.  You could also use extra paintings you have laying around!

Natalie cut hearts from construction paper for the bodies and heads, then used a heart punch for the spots.  Draw on faces and antenna and done!

On the back, she signed her name and taped on a lollipop.  After signing her name 20 times, she deserved a lollipop for herself!

The girls are still thinking about what kind of Valentine cards they want to make this year.  Do you do homemade or store-bought Valentines?

Happy Playing!

This year we made heart crayons with silicon molds picked up at Target. So cute, we are going to write something like “Color your world with love. Happy Valentine’s Day!” on slips of paper and put it all together in a bag tied with ribbon.

Home made all the way!

The ladybug cards are so sweet. Your daughter is very creative to design such a special card.

Love these.
This year we made labels on the computer and had her (4 yrs) put them on her candy to give out. Then added a few stickers. Still took her a while to do, but saved time on writing her name 20+ times!!

“Happy Hearts & Kisses Day
Your friend, xxx”

I always thought handmade Valentine’s cards were personal and therefore -I guess- it never occurred to me that my daughter would want to make Valentines… What was I thinking? This is so darling, and I know my little painters in residence would love this idea- or something similar.

Thanks for putting it out there in time for those of use who didn’t think of it.
