Olympic Fun for Kids

by Amy on February 19, 2010

Are you and your kids enjoying the Winter Olympics?  My girls are loving it, especially the figure skating.  I’ve already been to our local ice rink’s website to look at beginner classes, because they both insist they must take ice skating lessons!

I have a few posts in my archives from the Summer Olympics two years ago – they all have great indoor activities (and a few outdoor, too, if you are getting any bits of sunshine!):

Throwing & Catching

Fairy Olympics

Backwards Olympics

Are you doing any Olympic-inspired activities with your kids? I would love to hear about them!

Have a great weekend!

We printed out a bunch of blank flags of the participating countries, along with the rings and a torch. My 4 1/2 year old son colored them all in, and we have them hanging in our dining room. We also watched the Opening Ceremonies together and as the country was announced, we looked it up on the globe. I also took a book out from the library about the Winter Olympics so he could see what the different sports were.

Hi Amy! We had an indoor Olympics day this week. We actually used your ‘ice treasures’ idea for getting the medals at the end. They loved it! http://www.hubbardscupboard.org/blog/2010/02/18/2010-indoor-winter-olympics/
