Playful Picks (February 22, 2010)

by Amy on February 22, 2010

The building blocks have been popular again at our house after a long hiatus – so this week’s picks are all about houses and buildings.  Enjoy!

What We’re Reading

First, here are three classics that my girls have been enjoying since they were toddlers:

I’m sure I have mentioned here before how much I love The Big Orange Splot – it is a great little gem of a book that celebrates individual expression and believing in your dreams.  I was excited to find another new-to-me title with a similar theme, Mr. Pine’s Purple House. I can’t wait to check this one out at the library! Have any of you read it? It was originally published in 1965 – I don’t remember this one from my childhood.

We’ve also been using our blocks a lot lately. This week we have been using them with pieces of felt, flowers, pieces of toddler puzzles and all sorts of bits and pieces to create wonderful settings – so much fun.

I have not come across Mr Pine’s Purple House but am keen to find this book for my children.

Oh, we have Mr Pine’s Purple House! It is one of our favorites! I think it used to be my brother’s when we were little. Awesome, I hope you liked it!
