We love listening to audio books, especially in the car. Luckily, our library has a pretty good selection of picture book/CD sets and audio chapter books. I also like purchasing audio stories and making themed audio story playlists for the girls. We can listen to them on our iPod or burn a CD for the car. The stories I choose to buy are usually favorites that we already own in book-form. That way, we can enjoy the pictures while listening if we choose.
Audible Kids has a bunch of children’s audio books that are only 99¢ each – I’m usually able to find lots of great choices under a dollar, which is awesome!
Here is our Spring Audio Book Playlist – each one is just 99¢!
Blueberries for Sal
Happy Birthday Moon
Make Way for Ducklings
Max’s Chocolate Chicken
Miss Rumphius
Mushroom in the Rain
The Caterpillar and the Polliwog
The Very Busy Spider
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
{One note about the audio books from Audible — you can only burn one CD, but you can put the books on your iPods, listen on your computer, etc.}
Happy Listening!
P.S. Those Audible linkies are affiliate links – just FYI.

I just wanted to say thanks for the suggestion – we’re about to go on a car trip this weekend, so I’m going to download a few stories that go with some of my daughter’s current favorite books, and see how she likes it. I hope she finds it a fun way to pass the time!
Thanks for the suggestion. I uploaded 4 of our most current favorites – all insect books. We’re doing a 4 week long study of the insect world. We’re been watching caterpillars metamorphosize into butterflies and ladybugs go from larvae to ladybugs. It’s been so much fun. The kids could listen to Eric Carle books all day, so it’s nice to have a little repreive where they can listen to someone else read them a few times. Thanks again!
The themed playlist idea is fantastic! I’ve been meaning to check out Audible. Thanks for the great idea!
I was unable to find any .99 listings. How do you find these?
Hi Patty – You have to create an account and be logged in to see prices. Hope that helps!
