Hello, May! Allergies aside, I’m ready for growing veggies, long walks to the park, and sunshine. Do you have any big plans for May?
My 10 Ways to Play in May idea sheet is ready to download!
This month’s play ideas include fun with flowers, dinner-time doodling, and other ways to add a little spark to your everyday playtime. As usual, the focus is on simple, open-ended play activities that kids (and growns-ups!) of all ages can enjoy.

Love the ideas! Think that drawing while we dine is great one. Also like silly photos idea :)))
Thanks, Michelle! Hope you have fun trying out some of the ideas! :)
Thanks for these ideas – I love your 10 ways to play every month!
You’re welcome – enjoy! :)
I have forwarded two blog awards to your blog as I find it both really inspiring and fabulous: http://willowatsquidoo.blogspot.com/2011/05/couple-awards-to-share-fabulous.html
Hi, amy,
I am writing a story for Parents mag on instilling perseverance. I’m looking for inspiring and/or surprising real mom advice. I liked your entry re using various kinds of goal charts with your kids. Would you be up for being interviewed? Leah
I like how you started your seeds? Can you just plant those right into the ground once the plants grow enough to sustain outside? Or do you have to remove the paper? Where did you get that idea? I’m enthralled!
Hi, Amber! Yes, they can be planted right into the ground. We just used strips of newspaper and a piece of wood dowel (maybe 1.5″ in diameter?). Leaving a bit hanging off the end of the dowel, roll the newspaper around the dowel into a cylinder. Fold in the loose end to make the bottom.
Hope that makes sense! You can buy a little tool to make newspaper pots, but my hubby went for a more frugal method. ;)
That’s a great list! My son loves dipping his chalk in water, but we haven’t blown bubbles in the bath yet. Thank you for the ideas.
