Mariah at Playful Learning is offering a photo journal e-course for kids (and grown-ups) during the month of November. My girls and I will be participating and we are so excited! Both of my girls love taking photographs, so I know we are going to have lots of fun.
Here are the basic details about the course – you can visit Playful Learning for more information & registration:
Through the Lens: Explorations in Photo Journaling E-Course
Through the Lens: Explorations in Photo Journaling is an e-course that has been created for children (and their grown-ups) ages six through twelve. Participants will gain new understanding of themselves and the world around them by exploring a variety of photography and writing techniques while creating and adding to their own photo journals.
Each week participants will receive a video that introduces basic concepts of photography and writing, an assignment, recommended reading, and relevant printables and links. The entire course can be done at each individual’s own pace, and all of the content will remain available to participants long after the course is complete. Parents and teachers will also receive guidance on how to differentiate the assignments based on a child’s age and ability.
Dates: Wednesdays, November 2, 9, 16, 23
Ages: 6-12 (and their grown-ups) and teachers that would like to learn more about incorporating photography into their writing program.
Cost: $78 for four weeks
Materials needed: digital camera, ability to print photos and blank journal
We will be able to interact using individual accounts on VoiceThread – posting pictures, telling stories, and recording comments for others. I’m really curious to try out this new-to-me interface.
For more info, head to the Playful Learning site. Let me know if you decide to register – it would be fun to “see” you there!

I would LOVE to win this. I think it would be fun to sit in on a class and learn!! I missed the last class giveaway from Playful Learning so it would be super to win it today!!!! Thanks for offering this.
Sounds so much fun! Would love this great prize!
I am always looking for new ways to spark my daughter’s interest in writing. Sounds like a class for all of us and would love to win a free spot! :)
My 6 year old would adore this. What a great giveaway!
Hello and thank you for a giveway worth great excitement. I work with young children and my own child around “seeing the world” often with cameras. I usually invest in a few disposable ones so to give each child the feel for their very own view.

This is such a fabulous GiveAway!!!
Oh fun! Lucy would really enjoy this!
Love your blog, but think this is the first time I have commented (hanging my head in shame). Would love to win this place as my son is itching to start using his camera and I just know this would point us both in the right direction. Thanks soooo much for the chance (and for all the effort you put in to building your wonderful blog)….
I think this would be perfect for my daughter. She just started a 365 blog yesterday, taking one photo a day for a year. This class could really give her some direction.
we love photography in this house and struggle to do the reading & writing so this would be a great way for us to get it all together. I blog about my kids so maybe I can learn some new tips to make my blog more fun for us all too.
Mariah’s Spaces class was so wonderful, I am sure this one will be fabulous!
I am a speech language pathologist, always looking for new ideas for my clients with autism- this looks perfect for improving their pretend play and abstract thought skills!
I’d love to win this giveaway. Life is pretty busy for our family right now, so this would give my daughter and I intentional time together doing something we both love. Thanks for the chance!
