Symmetry Mitten Drawing Project for Kids | Let's Explore

I’m sharing a simple paper craft at Make and Takes today. Here’s a peek:

Brr! We’ve been having some super chilly days around here. But, the sun is shining, so we bundle-up and head outside anyway. Thank goodness for warm hats, scarves, and mittens!

When we’ve had enough cold, we come inside, drink something warm, and settle in with a book, a game, or an art project. Here’s one such project for a winter’s day – design your own silly and symmetrical paper mittens!

Love this idea! My 8 year old son and I were sitting together working on symmetry online using the ixl math website the other day. I am envisioning applying a modified version of this project to really see and feel with his hands how those geometric shapes can be rotated a certain number of degrees to retain the symmetry. Thanks for sharing!
