My girls like to keep me on task when it comes to holidays. Halloween is done – time to start thinking about Thanksgiving! One of the things they are really looking forward to this month is heading to the movie theater to see Free Birds. Have you seen the trailer yet? It looks really cute and funny!
Here’s a little blurb about the movie, which opens in theaters today (November 1):
In this hilarious, adventurous buddy comedy for audiences of all ages, directed by Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!), two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history – and get turkey off the Thanksgiving menu for good.
Starring the voices of Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Amy Poehler, Dan Fogler, Lesley Nicol, George Takei, Colm Meaney, Keith David, Carlos Alazraqui, and Dwight Howard.
The creators of Free Birds have made a cute how-to video for drawing a Hand Turkey. This is not your ordinary 5-finger hand print turkey! I can’t wait to try this new drawing technique with my girls. We might even be able to trace baby Henry’s hand and make a teeny tiny turkey for his baby book! Check out the video, featuring Amy Poehler who voices Jenny in Free Birds:
Isn’t that a fun and different way to draw a turkey?
