Make a Leprechaun’s Walk Book

My girls have been looking ahead on their calendars to find the next holiday – guess it’s time to pull out some St. Patrick’s Day activities!
In the deep, dark archives of my teaching days I found this fun fill-in-the-blank book that you can make with your child, along with a happy little leprechaun to walk [...]

We’re Ready for Valentine’s Day!

After adding some painted details (we used acrylic craft paint) and sparkly white yarn, the heart necklaces are ready for gift-giving:

This year, we didn’t have a whole classroom to make Valentines for.  But, we do have some special family and friends that we wanted to send sweet messages.  It was pretty much a use-up-all-our-extra-stuff Valentine [...]

Air-Dry Clay Hearts

Today we had fun squishing, rolling, and cutting hearts made from air-dry clay.

We punched holes with straws, so we can give Valentine necklaces to some special friends – and we’ll keep some for ourselves, too!
We gently pressed in sparkly sequins – everyone agreed this was the best part!

We also made some little decorations and pendants, [...]

Ladybug Valentines

These are the Valentine cards that Natalie made for her Kindergarten class last year.  She came up with the idea herself – pretty cute!
For the card background, she painted big pieces of paper with red, pink, and purple paint.  When they were dry, we cut them up into card-size rectangles.  You could also use extra [...]

Goodbye 2009!

Happy New Year’s Eve!  I gave my girls planning power for tonight’s activities – it sounds like we are eating nachos and chocolate fondue, playing games, watching a movie, and trying really, really hard to stay awake until midnight!

Delaney’s ornaments for gifting this year are these simply adorable yarn wreaths.  She was able to whip-out six of them in about half an hour!

We started with some restaurant kids’ cup lids that we had around.  Using the straw hole as a starting point, I cut out the center of the lid.  I tied on [...]

~ making (and eating!) Holiday Pretzel Treats ~

I was feeling a little badly that we haven’t done many of the “new” Christmas crafts or activities that I had planned this year – but, of [...]

Reindeer Pokey

Thumbnail image for Reindeer Pokey

We are lucky enough to have a little reindeer living with us this Christmas season!

She is usually found with a red pom-pom taped to her nose, singing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer over and over (and over!) again.  She has been begging for a Rudolph costume, so here’s my plan:  brown long-sleeved shirt and brown pants [...]

Fairy Tale Book Ornaments

The girls and I were really excited to participate in the Kids’ Ornament Swap organized by Cassi from The Crafty Crow.  The theme was fairy tales, and after many, many ideas floating around, my girls settled on making a tiny fairy tale book with a sparkling magic wand on the cover.  I think they turned [...]
